There is a really great book for ADD/ADHD meds – Straight Talk about Psychiatric Medications for Kids by Timothy Wilens, MD. My developmental pediatrician recommended it and it was really great. We tried Ritalin but have the 6wk honeymoon period it, he had the classic rebound effect. It was horrible. We took him off everything and have not gone back and tried anything else since. We too struggle with the ADD, and concentration piece. Have you tried Intinuv? It is a non stimulant. Good luck and I am enjoying reading Gryffyn’s Tail. ❤

We have tried it (guanfacine) and all it did was put my son to sleep. We had the rebound issue with ritalin, too. It was A-MAZING the first week. Then it got worse as we upgraded to long acting ritalin (Focalin). We stopped the Focalin and now we actually are doing really well now with Vyvanse. We haven’t had any of the same issues. After years of trying to treat it biomedically, it really was time for a change. But I’m always happy to check out another book!
